Beijing Color Run
On August 10, 2013, Beijing hosted the first ever Color Run in Asia. The Color Run took place at the 9th China (Beijing) Garden Expo and it sold out. There was an estimated 10,000 participants. Below is a little video I put together for GoYvon.
Color Run Idea
The Color Run started in the United States and is now a major international event. According to their website: “The Color Run 5k is the first paint race of its kind and was inspired by several awesome events, including Disney’s World of Color, Paint Parties, Mud Runs, and Festivals throughout the world such as Holi.”
I found out about the Beijing Color Run because my girlfriend has been interested in the Holi festival for a long time now. The marketing idea is genius because they have combined three great ideas into one. They have combined festival (party) atmosphere, 5k marathons, and charity. These three ideas hold up very well on their own but combined, they make a great atmosphere.
Pictures from the Event
There are a ton of pictures on their Facebook page. I have also added a few of my own below. I didn’t bring my best camera because I wasn’t sure if I could keep it clean, so I didn’t take too many pictures. But you can still get a general idea of the craziness of the event.
My final thoughts about the event are as follows. I think this was a great 5k, I have never been much of a runner and the great thing about this event was it is designed to be fun. Nobody was running because the temperature was well into the high 30’s C (90’s F) but that didn’t stop people from having a great time.
As you can see in the pictures and video, I really enjoyed this event and I hope I can “run” it again in the future. If you have the chance to go, don’t pass it up because you will end up regretting it.
