Personal Update – Digital Jungle

Digital Jungle

What is going on with Miguel Roberg?

Today, I would like to let everyone know what has been going on with me. I have been very busy for the last few weeks, which is why you have not seen too many new posts on Chairman Migo. The reason I have been so busy is because I quit my old job and started a new internship at a marketing agency. I have also been busy producing content for other sites and my girlfriends parents have been in town for the past 2 weeks.

Personal Update #1: New Internship at Digital Jungle

On November 25th, I stated a new internship at a social media and content marketing agency. The company is called Digital Jungle and they are China’s largest independent content focused, digital marketing Agency, boasting 120+ staff in China and around the region. Our primary focus is to work with Western organizations to deepen their relationships between their brand and Chinese consumers; through quality content and strategic thinking, to drive consumer action, and to deliver value and measurable results for our clients.

Job

My job title is Content Marketing Coordinator but I am actually just an intern. I am excited about the job and after 2 weeks, I think I will learn a lot about content marketing. We have some pretty big clients and I will get to work with the content team to produce content for these clients.  I am also working in house to help produce content for the Digital Jungle blog and another blog, DMIC Asia, which is run by Digital Jungle. Along with blogging for the company, I will also be in charge of guest blogging on other sites to help promote Digital Jungle. So, my job is basically writing all day long and coming up with creative articles to help promote clients and Digital Jungle.

Future

The future with Digital Jungle is unclear because the internship is only 6 months long. After the internship is over there is a chance I could be hired full time but there are no guarantees. So, in about 3-4 months I will be pushing hard to find a new job. Please, take the next few months to get to know me better and read the content I am producing because I will be looking for a new job and if you know someone that could use my skills; I would love to talk to them. This is my attempt to seed the idea.

Personal Update #2: Chairman Migo and Other Blogs (advertising@chinaSMACK, DMIC, Digital Jungle Blog)

Chairman Migo

Chairman Migo will not suffer because of my new internship at Digital Jungle. In fact, I think it will help me become more structured and also help me with writing articles that my audience finds more interesting. Right now, I have only been writing about things I find interesting and hoping others will come and subscribe to the blog. This has not been working too well. I have a hand full of subscribers and even though I get a fair amount of traffic per day (60-100 views). I know I can do better and I think the internship will help me become more focused. I will be writing a content plan and I will be posting on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s every week. I will do my best to stay focused and I hope that will help with the low subscription numbers and low traffic.

Advertising@chinaSMACK

If you have been reading this blog than you should know a little bit about me and how I think. You should know that I am always trying to find new ways to meet and reach people; one way I have been trying to expand my reach is by writing for Advertising@chinaSMACK. chinaSMACK is a well-known website within China and throughout the world. They have been featured in many news reports and they are known for the interesting, and sometimes crazy, stories they cover about Chinese society. Their main site receives around 3.5 million page views per month. I am writing for the lesser known advertising section. The advertising section is well known by industry leaders and by working with Advertising@chinaSMACK, I am able to meet and work with these industry insiders and hopefully it will lead to more opportunities in the future.

DMIC and Digital Jungle Blog

The DMIC blog is run by Digital Jungle and as part of my internship I will be writing content for this blog. The blog covers everything related to digital marketing in China and it has some interesting content, if you want to follow my writing then be sure to check it out because I have the freedom to write about digital marketing in China, I am not assigned articles (the ideas are mostly mine). I will also be producing content for the Digital Jungle Blog but this will be harder to track because I do not have authorship on that blog. I will also be writing content for guest blogs but again these articles will be hard to track because the CEO sends them out with his credentials.

Personal Update #3: Yvonne’s Parents

Yvonne’s parents have been in China for the past 2 weeks. They arrived on November 22nd and they are leaving on December 10th. So, we have been very busy at home, which is why you have not seen a lot of new content on this blog. I am really happy they came to visit but it is a little hard to concentrate when there are 4 people in our little apartment. Yvonne and I will be sad to see them go but it is part of life and travel, they can’t stay forever. With that said, we do have a spare bedroom; they have been staying in our extra bedroom, so….. For the family and good friends that read this blog…… You could always come in visit.

Conclusion

Before the post spirals out of control, I will stop rambling. The wrap up is things are going well for me and I hope in 6 months I will be able to update you again about (maybe a new job) or how I will continue at Digital Jungle. I am happy now but a few things bother me about the internship. I have been thinking about writing privately on this blog but I’m not sure. If you would like to read about my agency life (ups and downs) let me know in the comments. If I get positive feedback, I might think about writing a few (private posts). Well, that is all for now. Check back on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s for real content about marketing in China.
