SocketPro VPN Review – Unlocking China

Free VPN Picture

If you are looking to access the internet in China, I would recommend ExpressVPN. If you signup using this link you will get 3 months free.

What is SocketPro VPN?

SocketPro VPN is an ultra fast, secure and convenient proxy that helps you bypass firewalls – giving you access to sites that are blocked in certain regions (a.k.a. China). SocketPro uses modern socks5 protocol to transfer your data, it’s much faster compared to a traditional VPN. Over 53 global server nodes are optimized for fast connections, with no hard bandwidth limitation. Unlike other service providers, they DO NOT limit your connection. Which means that you can connect all your devices at the same time. If you use other services, you may pay more for simultaneous connections. Your connection is secured with 256-bit encryption to protect your data from prying eyes. Browse freely from Wi-Fi hotspots with the comfort knowing that you can’t be tracked or monitored.

Does SocketPro work?

So basically, it is another service provider that allows you to bypass the “Great Firewall of China.” I used this for a few months and it worked fine during the time I used it. This is a very cheap alternative to some of the more expensive VPN providers like Astrill or ExpressVPN. You can get an annual subscription for about $30; compared to other VPNs this is a good price. I have used Astrill in the past in the annual subscription was $129, so you can see this cost is much lower.

SocketPro VPN is not the best service out there, but it will work and if you know about Socket protocol you can create your own connections and use the SocketPro interface, which is easy to use and understand. I personally don’t know enough about these protocols to make it super useful, but for anyone that is more tech savvy than me, it could be very helpful.

They also offer a mobile app for on the go connections, but this didn’t work very well on my phone. Again, I think this was due to the fact that I didn’t know enough about setting up the connections. I was able to use the mobile app, but the connection was a little slow.

Overall, if you are looking for a cheaper VPN “like” service, this will get you by especially if you are traveling. This is just my simple review of the service. If you want to check it out you can head over to their site to find out more: SocketPro Site.

Got an annual subscription from that lasted 10 days. Now, I have no connection through the client and there is no response from them for days. They just stopped providing the service without any explanation.
